Mommy Me

Normally, I would be glum on a Sunday afternoon knowing that it would soon be Monday again. Monday means back-to-work! Now, each morning, each day means something else. I no longer dread each day because I know each day takes me closer to seeing my little baby boy :) Gosh. I AM turning into a mommy :) hehehe. I love how each day makes me feel more and more a mom. I am proud to say that I am slowly getting rid of my selfish side and preparing myself for childbirth. I love how childbirth classes have helped me not only in terms of knowledge but more so in emotionally preparing myself for what's to come.

In today's class we learned about the early stages of labor and instead of fearing the things I discovered, it's actually making me feel confident in facing the process. I guess it's not always true what they say - ignorance is bliss.

This week marks the 26th week and in 2 weeks, we get to see baby in 3D :) can't wait - hope baby's not too big :p so, for the first time in a loooong time, looking forward to Monday!

Child Birth Classes

I don't know why exactly I enrolled in Childbirth Classes.  I've always thought that they were only for those intending on not having epidural/anesthesia during childbirth - which is true, but not everyone who attends the sessions do without anesthesia.  It was Session 1 (of 5) for Alvin and I today.

H has been feeling sick the past couple of days, actually so I was very grateful that he still drove to Ateneo ISO for the classes.  He was sneezing and coughing - the works! Poor boy.  The classes would run for 3 hours and we were a total of 14 couples in the morning session (9am to 12nn).  I was surprised, actually, to see so many couples in the class! And to think, Rome, our instructor, still had an afternoon batch!

In our batch, I think we were mostly a mix of pregnant women due February to April of this year, with me being the last.  Anyway, so it began with a series of introductions from Rome, as well as us 14 couples.  It was going okay though H was kinda drowsy and feeling really under the weather.  I felt so bad for him, since his face really screamed "Put me in bed, I'm sick!".  I asked him halfway through the class, at around 10:40 AM, if he wanted to just go home and come back next week for Session 2.  His eyes lit up when I asked so during the short break, I asked rome if we could go.  Of course she allowed us.  H was also worried about infecting all the other pregnant mommies in the room if we had stayed.

So, considering we were only there for an hour and a half, it was pretty informative! I learned so much stuff about labor and delivery - and best of all, they were all from actual experiences and not some random internet article out to instill more fear in me, hehe! Plus, all the couples seemed really nice and friendly.  I'm really looking forward to the other sessions, hopefully H will be feeling better and in tip-top shape!

Edit: A photo from one of the sessions we had where H was practicing diaper changing along with the other fathers..

As for now, it's time to get back to work - spent most of the Sunday afternoon in bed.  Blaming the lazy bed weather! Happy Sunday! :)

Bookstore Shopping

Since I was a student, I've always loved National Bookstore.  Even if I go there everyday, there's always something to buy (a new pen, a cute notebook, a greeting card, etc.)  I haven't been there in a while, actually.  While waiting for H to get off from work, I decided to pass by the Petron branch along Gil Puyat corner Makati Avenue.

1) A trusty pair of scissors
2) Looked at my drawer this afternoon and I realized I needed paper clips!
3) My favorite black pen - cheap and efficient: HBW at Php 5.00 each
4) Scotch Magic Tape dispenser - couldn't find any other tape dispenser and since I found this cute, I got it!
5) Extra Scotch tape
6) Jotter Pad by Star Paper - it's a pad paper with no lines on the sheets.  Perfect for scribbling stuff!
7) You can't see it but I also got Scotch Reuse Again & Again.  It's a sheet with double-sided stickers one can use for sticking paper/photos on a wall.  It claims to not destroy paint/wallpaper at the same time can be used over and over again! :)
8) MAPED magnets.  My school desk stuff are all over the place - papers left and right. Hopefully these magnets will help keep my stuff in order.

Impulse buys, I know.  Stuff I can live without but bought anyway.  I'm blaming husband for this, haha. Well, everything can be put to use anyway :P

Back to Work!

Reasons why I look forward to going back to work:

1) H has gone back to work so there's no one to bug here at home.
2) No other way to get to April (due month) than to get through the remaining months of the year!
3) I actually miss being around the kiddos :P
4) Miss the teachers, too!

And as an additional pick-me-up for tomorrow...

Love what you do... :)

I Must!

More than RESOLUTIONS, I feel that GOALS have a better ring to it.  I think it gives better motivation :-D So, here are my 2012 GOALS :-)

1) READ, READ, READ!!!
- I've always loved reading.  I mean, hello, I grew up collecting Sweet Valley Twins series (Kids, Teens, High, University), Fear Street, Babysitter's Club and Love Stories.  It's just college got in the way, then work... With teaching, there's always something work-related to read so no time for leisure reading.  I've managed to sneak in a book or two, but this year, I plan to be able to read AT LEAST SIX books.  Currently these are the books I have in mind, all already on my bookshelf:

  • The Leader Who Had No Title by Robin Sharma
  • The Teacher Man by Frank McCourt
  • Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
  • A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis
  • The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
  • The Secret by Ronda Byrne
  • The Winner Stands Alone by Paulo Coelho
...and if I get bored with any of those titles, there are about 15 more I could read (also on my bookshelf already).  Can anyone say obsessed-with-book-shopping?

2) HEALTHY LIVING
- I don't really consider myself a huge junk food eater although I do have a penchant for eating chips! Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream, Lays Barbecue, and a couple of other local brands.  I just love munching on those crunchy chips, grrr.  I noticed, though, that my husband does not like chips so much - which I found surprising and only realized recently, haha.  Anyway, I plan to TAKE OUT CHIPS COMPLETELY FROM MY DIET and then LESSEN MY INTAKE OF SODA and GET USED TO JUST HAVING WATER.

3) 42KM!
- This was actually my 2011 plan but I had the best reason to postpone this - BABY :-) So now, there's no holding back, I intend to go back to training by mid-June (2 months or so after giving birth) in order to hopefully finish that marathon by November/December.  I miss my running shoes :-(

4) FEED THE SOUL
- I want to MAINTAIN A HEALTHY PRAYER LIFE.  I mean I do pray and go to mass regularly but I feel that at some point, I've lost the closeness I used to have, so, there.  How to "feed the soul"? Pray the rosary once a week (at least, but hopefully everyday) and make sure to ALWAYS be present for Sunday mass.

5) NO NEW STUFF
- I really do not need anything NEW anymore.  I posted about that birthday watch and I STILL do have guilt feelings over its exorbitant price.  Anyway, looking at my shoe rack and closet, I do not need any more bags and shoes.  As for shoes, I have a trusty pair of:
  • Slippers: My favorite plain chocolate brown Havaianas (has been with me for over 2 years)
  • Fitflops: I have 2 pairs and I'm very happy and content (one black, one white - also see previous post on this)
  • Flats: I just recently bought 2 pairs of SM Parisian flats which are very comfy :-) (also posted on this)
  • Comfy shoes: My corduroy Sanuks
As for bags, I already have my chocolate brown (yes I love the color) Le Pliage plus a bilberry one.  So, I'm good!

...and lastly,

6) JUST DO IT
- I have this "plan" that is career-related and talking to this friend last night made me more secure about that plan.  I just am praying to God for the will-power to actually push through with the plan and DO it.  I will actually find out by January or February if this goal has been put into action.

**

There you go,  I don't want to have too many goals so that's just SIX that I hope to be able to accomplish.  Wish me luck! :-D
